Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Security Architect to be hired at a level III or senior level. This position will help define, architect and oversee implementation of network security and endpoint management. Duties include evaluating network technologies and network protocols, developing and/or recommending security requirements for routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and wireless technologies.
In addition to the responsibilities noted above, the senior level position will lead and develop staff.
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides core computing, network services, enterprise systems, and information security resources to the students, faculty, and staff of Iowa State. ITS partners with IT professionals from around campus to provide more specialized IT resources to ISU's academic and business units.
The successful candidate will be detail oriented, self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to troubleshoot, learning new skills, tools, and technologies. Applicants must also possess strong time management, organizational skills, and decision making skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems.
In addition, the successful candidate will possess an in depth understanding of configuration management and endpoint security and the ability to identify security flaws and mitigation solutions.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, MIS, or IT-related degree. Experience that demonstrates extensive knowledge of network appliances and firewalls, preferably Cisco. Experience in a position requiring configuration management, Active Directory management. Experience with NIST publications related to Network Risk and Security. Experience with technology related to SaaS, PaaS and IaaS in context of cloud, wireless, mobile and IoT. Experience with architecture specification and secure network protocols. Experience with Windows, mac and Redhat Linux environment.
