Responsible for site-level & multi-site environmental health and safety infrastructure. This role will manage the EHS&S team at the J&J Warsaw facility and professionals at adjacent J&J facilities. Responsible for ensuring the operations are in compliance with federal, state, and local EHS&S regulations, as well as Johnson & Johnson EHS&S Standards. Partner with site leadership teams to establish and implement site/multi-site EHS&S strategy and Management Action Plans (MAPs) in alignment with the Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain, commercial, and R&D imperatives.
This leader will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders.
Internal: Supply Chain leaders, Commercial partners, Quality and other site functional leaders.
External: Regulators and 3 rd party consultants or assessors
Shared responsibility with Plant Manager(s)/Site Leader(s) for EHS&S performance at each site. [15%]
Partner with local management to develop and implement site MAPs to address EHS&S program deficiencies and ensure EHS&S regulatory compliance. [15%]
Develop EHS&S objectives for each site - auditing, analyzing, documenting, and reporting on their implementation and effectiveness to management via dashboards & reports. [10%]
Manage EHS&S professionals at local facility and multiple sites. Set and monitor goals/objectives/assignments, provide adequate coaching/counseling, develop and monitor employee development plans, and provide recommendations as part of the succession planning, appraisal, and salary planning process. [20%]
Monitor and evaluate EHS&S risks of operations, including change management, ensuring continuous improvement of the EHS&S program to make it leaner and more efficient. [10%]
Provide upper management with ongoing consultation pertaining to EHS&S regulations and identify any impact on key business objectives. [5%]
Develop and implement EHS&S training strategy for each site, ensuring key risks and regulatory requirements are addressed for appropriate audiences, including new hires. [5%]
Support and facilitate site EHS&S teams to ensure implementation of the EHS&S program. [5%]
Maintain local ISO certifications by ensuring site EHS&S management systems are aligned & maintained consistent with ISO and/or program standards. [5%]
Collaborate with other functions to manage EHS&S aspects of external manufacturers, suppliers and contractor programs. [10%]
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in EHS&S or related field is required.
A minimum of 8 years EHS&S experience is required
Experience in an FDA regulated environment is preferred .
Direct supervision/management/development experience preferred.
Technical experience in diverse EHS&S areas including but not limited to air, water, hazardous and medical waste, machine safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and chemical handling is highly desirable.
Demonstrated project management skills are required
A technical/working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations is required.
Strong communication (written & verbal), problem-solving, influence, organizing, and time management skills are required.
Ability to influence management is required
Ability to provide support to multiple customers/business units is required.
Classroom instructor skills are required.
Ability to produce & maintain project schedules & budgets is preferred
Interfacing - associates & local, state & federal inspectors required.
Experience i dentifying, evaluating and controlling EHS&S risks in the workplace is required.
Ability to quickly interpret complex regulatory issues and provide recommended course of action is preferred
Ability to work in a matrix, team oriented environment is required.
Ability to lead local EHS&S professionals and manage additional multi-site EHS&S resources is required.
This position could require up to 20% travel both domestic and international
