Underthe general direction of the OR Business Manager and in close collaborationwith the Operating Room (OR) Manager and Supply Chain & Systems Manager, isresponsible for assisting in all functions related to the management ofpurchase contracts for supplies, services and equipment within clinicalspecialty areas (OR, Anesthesia, Medical Imaging, Cardiology, EP, etc...) for St.Mary's Hospital, in collaboration with SSM Health Care of Wisconsin ownedfacilities and SSM Health Care of Wisconsin affiliate programs. Ensures thatagreements are developed and complied to in accordance to accepted norms andSystem arrangement in order to secure supplies, services and equipment asneeded at the lowest cost, considering the most economic quantity andappropriate quality. Assists in the supply chain management functions for theclinical areas (Surgical Services, Cardiovascular, Interventional Radiology) intheir respective facilities.
Assist in the planning of strategic equipmentpurchasing, supply purchasing to align with hospital and department goals.Works with the staff and physicians in obtaining and evaluating equipment,supplies and instrumentation. Reviews equipment requirements with ClinicalEngineering, and Clinical Leadership team. Meets regularly with Clinical Leadershipteam, Clinicians and Physicians to ensure strategic alignment to standardize,reduce waste, and maximize supply chain efforts collaboratively.
Evaluate hospital and group contracts. Providesanalysis of benefits and makes recommendation considering cost, productstandardization and improved delivery. Ensure compliance with Local, Regionaland System agreements Develops and leads multi-disciplinary teams to ensurecompliance is met. Serve as an active participant on teams and councilsrelative to the departments served.
Applies and verifies existing or newly developedagreements. Works with finance to develop financial goals. Assists in budgetingfor clinical areas and supply chain. Prepares reports and analysis asappropriate. Present opportunities, data, initiatives in various forums,including leadership meetings, value analysis meetings, etc... Coordinatesin-services, conversions, trials as appropriate in alignment with local,regional or system initiatives.
Manage inventory by developing and maintainingPAR levels that ensure supplies are available when needed. Utilize acquisitionstrategies to ensure inventory turns are achieved. Routinely review patientcharging to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Utilize appropriate technology to identifyneeds and requisition supplies in a cost effective manner. Assist in year-endinventory process by ensuring all outdated supplies are removed, consignmentproduct is identified and storage areas are clearly marked/maintained in a neatand orderly manner.
Assists in maintaining the integrity of thematerials management information system data base by requesting SAP numberswhere appropriate. Ensure equipment is available when needed to support thephysicians and clinicians by acquiring budgeted equipment in a timely manner,arranging for loaner equipment, and monitoring and tracking equipment out forrepair.
Coordinate contract compliance and productconversion initiatives through participation on the OR Value Analysis Team.Provide oversight for product trials conducted in the surgical services areas.Monitor vendor representative presence in the surgical services areas to ensureall visits are appropriate and all visitors are properly credentialed. Process"Bill Only" requisitions ensuring that pricing information is accurate anditems listed were utilized in the procedure.
Contributes to the overall financial performanceof the department by assisting in the achievement of departmental goals relatedto inventory turns and inventory reduction. Enhances customer satisfaction bymaintaining adequate inventory levels to support procedures being performed inthe surgical services area. Contributes to patient safety by ensuring suppliesare removed from inventory prior to their expiration date.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business or Business Administration, or Finance with 3-5 years or experience, -OR- Associates degree in Economics, Business, or Finance with 5-7 years of experience. –OR- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
Previous experience in Supply Chain/Purchasing, with ranging knowledge in the various facets of purchasing and materials management.
Reasonable skill required in setting up the purchase specifications, terms of purchase, different arrangements, follow-up services and consulting arrangements.
Knowledge of surgical and interventional procedures, the equipment, supplies, and instruments required in each instance.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills to carry on negotiations, and interact effectively with external/internal clients including senior leadership, clinicians and physicians.
Must have proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office.
Experience with purchasing techniques and inventory control desirable.
High level analytical skills preferred.
