Advertised Summary Job Description: The College of Dental Medicine (CDM) at Columbia University Medical Center seeks a Director of Clinical and Analytic Systems (DCAS) to work with College Executive Staff, clinicians, collaborators and vendors on the development of an data analytics platform that will support instruction, clinical management, and research with a focus on bioinformatics, precision medicine and data science. CDM has joined a recently launched initiative to move to an integrated medical and dental record and the DCAS will serve as the Chief Medical Information Officer to determine how to realize conceptually, operationally and technically the integrated medical record for all CDM clinical activities. The DCAS will also be responsible for managing the transition from the current CDM Electronic Health Record system to the new integrated system and consolidated support model with ColumbiaDoctors. The DCAS will report to the CIO of the College of Dental Medicine. Develop and oversee the clinical database infrastructure that supports clinical, administrative, educational and research needs. Will work closely with University and vendor partners on business intelligence platforms and infrastructure, determining opportunities for shared solutions while also identifying areas where CDM will need to develop school-specific solutions. Serve as functional lead in the data modeling work that is foundational for all the data management, informatics and reporting needs. As the CMIO, will work closely with school and University leadership to develop the data structure, data definitions, and methodology for creating data taxonomy and dictionary. Work closely with CDM CIO and others on data capture, filtering, storage, tagging, retrieval, joining and reporting of information gathered through existing and emerging technologies including RFID and the passive data capture from integrated devices (increasingly referred to as the Internet of Things or IoT.) Be a chief collaborator on the development of dashboards and other data visualization tools. Serve as functional lead in the development and implementation of the integrated EHR (Epic) with ColumbiaDoctors and New York Presbyterian. Will work with CDM leadership to develop standard processes. Will work closely with implementation partners on an integrated medical record and work closely with clinicians on the implications for changes to dental record keeping. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the analytics platform, and for addressing both emergent and ad hoc requests for data. Will work with CDM leadership to provide key performance and operating indicators to support financial and clinical performance. Will oversee data analytics project planning and project execution, as well as projects that support the transition to the integrated EHR. Manage data and clinical system needs and issues as they arise. Perform other duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus ten years of related experience. Candidates should have degree in Healthcare related field (MD/DMD/RN/etc), formal informatics training and at least 5 years healthcare related experience in software implementations or information technology. Minimum of 5 years successfully managing data analytics and data warehouse teams. Extensive experience with healthcare financial and clinical data warehouse creation and support.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively and effectively with employees and professional staff. Must be a motivated individual with a positive and exceptional work ethic. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are required as is the ability to educate all levels of professional staff on the data analytics platform and its capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree preferred. Experience with Epic EHR implementations preferred.
