In this role, you will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the Company. This position is responsible to manage all purchasing functions and manages all Purchasing and Shop personnel.
Primary responsibilities and key attributes include but are not limited to:
Negotiate with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price, quality, delivery and service guarantee.
Develop new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
Assess the risk and ensure redundancy within supply chain; modify purchasing strategy accordingly.
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
Partner with key stakeholders to best understand project requirements, deadlines and budgets.
Review technical specifications for raw materials, components and equipment.
Determine Shop availability and ability to build items versus utilizing vendor services.
Establish purchasing policies and ensure compliance.
Check requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers.
Oversee receiving department to ensure proper supplies arrived.
Trace and/or expedite delinquent arrivals from purchase orders.
Follow environmental and safety regulations and act in compliance with all applicable Federal and State Laws.
Comply with safety and Corporate guidelines on business ethics.
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration.
At least 10 years material handling purchasing experience.
Strong leadership capabilities with at least 2 years’ experience managing others.
Capable to craft negotiation strategies to close deals with optimal terms.
Ability to gather and analyze data and work with figures.
Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Microsoft Word.
Interpersonal skills to relate to all levels of the organization and to handle vendors.
