Overview: The Associate position is an opportunity to work directly with senior management in a small, flat, investment organization. The primary areas of focus for this position will be the risk reporting process, risk system design and management, and the execution of various risk-related strategic initiatives. Primary areas of responsibility include:
1. Work collaboratively to help generate attractive long-term real returns for the Long Term Pool while remaining within the risk tolerance of the University. Participate as a member of the Risk and Investment Committees; 2. Lead the development of UVIMCO's data management and risk management systems; 3. Lead all risk reporting efforts. Utilize the risk management system for risk and exposure reporting, risk management, and providing custom analytics. Measure and manage market, liquidity and manager risks, and assess the risk tolerance of the University; 4. Improve existing or develop new methodologies for risk measurement, risk management, and asset allocation models, including custom analytics; 5. Provide quantitative analyses to support investment recommendations, including attribution analyses; 6. Work collaboratively with the Associate of Investment Strategy and Risk to support all strategic research efforts; 7. Assist in the management of UVIMCO's derivatives overlay program; 8. Provide quantitative support to the CIO, Risk Committee, and other Investment Staff for research projects; and 9. Recruit, supervise and develop investment associates and analysts.
Requirements: The candidate must be a motivated self-starter and possess strong organizational skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a high level of professionalism and integrity. Successful candidates will have a strong technical finance background as well as experience with or the demonstrated desire to learn R, SQL, and Python. Demonstrated completion of successful programming projects is required.
?An undergraduate and/or graduate degree from a top institution in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Finance, Computer Science or Operations Research. ?CFA Charterholder or demonstrated interest in pursuing the CFA Program. ?Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ?Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively. ?At least three years of experience in quantitative finance, preferably involved with the portfolio management of endowments or other institutional investors.
