This position develops, updates and delivers technical training materials and instructional courses in support of preparing resources and end users to operate in the future state: 1) IT staff using and mastering new IT processes and tools, 2) faculty, staff and students becoming users of new IT Shared Services. Focuses primarily on revisions and updates to existing training materials to reflect application enhancements. Works with project management to determine the needs of stakeholders impacted by the change, helps determine deployment approach and methods (coaching, self-paced learning, instructor led learning, eLearning), and plans and delivers needed training materials (job aids, on-line help, deployment training user guides, self-study guides, supporting web pages) and communications leading up to training and deployment of new services.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans training, documentation and communication deliverables for with a focus on revisions and updates to existing training materials to reflect application enhancements. May also incorporate or modify available training to meet current needs.
Conducts needs analysis of end user’s training and performance support needs. Works with experienced technical training specialist to define learning objectives and designs course curriculum and training deliverables to meet those objectives
Coordinates planning activities to meet objectives and timelines of overall program or project. Forecasts required time and resources, provides status reports, and follows established methodology. Independently prioritizes the completion of tasks and resolution of issues to ensure compliance to project deliverables.
Develops and implements communications plans and associated communications following established standards and methodology
Analysis, Design, Execution
Studies and develops a comprehensive understanding of assigned systems. Works closely with co-workers, product teams, and business office subject matter experts to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the system, including system transactions and the business processes related to the system, and end-user experiences. Applies the in-depth knowledge in all phases of training and communication development (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation).
Develops, tests, implements, and presents training deliverables in multiple formats such as case scenarios, simulations, e-learning courses, and other related support documentation following established standards and methodology.
Ensures training and communications are delivered successfully, including training/presentation delivery, material production, training room set-up and registration. Develops and implements communications plans and associated communications following established standards and methodology.
Conducts effective communications with co-workers, teams, business offices, and subject matter experts with guidance from management and senior personnel. Maintains all appropriate documentation, such as status reports and change logs.
Works with IT Service Managers post-deployment to provide resources and users with updates to functionality in service offerings.
Coordinates with vendors, customizing vendor training materials as appropriate.
Schedules and delivers deployment training or arrange for SME to deliver.
Helps develop adoption metrics and other methods of measuring the success of training and communications
Reviews and monitors the effectiveness of training programs and communication plans; leads and implements continuous improvement plans for training and communication. Compiles training and performance support feedback, as needed.
An Associate’s degree; a minimum of 60 semester hours of formal education working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Business, English, Communications, Education or equivalent combination of experience, certification, and education.
Minimum of 2 year of experience analyzing business processes, applying instructional design methods and theories, developing training curricula and user documentation and needed communications while demonstrating exemplary writing and editing skills or equivalent in higher education coursework and/or internships.
High attention to detail and exemplary proofreading skills.
Demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly and to understand technical information and communicate it to others using clear, concise, and user-friendly language.
Must be able to work independently and proactively.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and independent problem solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated successful performance with, giving presentations to audiences, and coordinating and completing multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.
Demonstrated understanding of client relationship management, process mapping and improvement, project management, and production support.
Ability to lead project teams to meet customer expectations.
Proficient in using word processing applications.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Prefer 1 - 3 years of experience analyzing business processes, applying instructional design methods and theories, developing training curricula and user documentation and needed communications while demonstrating exemplary writing and editing skills.
Applicant Special Instructions:
The work is normally performed in the offices located across campus. There will be activities that require trips to many University offices and offsite locations.
The hiring range for this position is $46,113 - $58,801 annually.
