Develop close relationships with strategic vendors. Identify and become well known to the key contacts in all areas of the vendor’s business including product managers, sales and technical support staff, shipping, credit and finance departments, and executive leadership.
Formulate procurement strategy. Negotiate favorable supply agreements for high volume, high value components in order to reduce costs and supply-side risk to ensure MBX’s ability to meet customer service level agreements.
Perform regularly scheduled vendor evaluations. Follow up with vendors on results and develop action plans for areas of improvement.
Coordinate new sourcing opportunities with the MBX engineering department and perform initial vendor qualification analyses.
Work with CFO to establish targeted inventory levels (allocated, safety stock, unallocated, obsolete). Develop reports and processes for measuring and managing operations to meet those levels.
Analyze inventory items by category to identify opportunities for parts standardization / SKU rationalization. Work with engineering department to effectuate changes.
Monitor component EOL and embedded road maps. Consult with vendors, customers, engineering, and production to develop and execute strategies for transitioning to new components.
Examine and create a plan to effectively reduce obsolete inventory levels and scrap caused by in-house operations. Capture and recover cost of scrap caused by vendors and outside contractors.
Establish and monitor key supply chain metrics and performance indicators. Work with internal programmers to construct web-based reporting capabilities.
Develop and promote effective forecasting methods. Review historical trends and combine with up-to-date sales forecasts to provide vendors with a reasonable estimate of demand for parts over a rolling 90-day period. Train and mentor supply chain team on forecasting disciplines.
Continually monitor warehouse capacity and utilization. Provide advance notice of potential future needs and make recommendations to executive management with ROI analysis for new asset and facility acquisitions.
Establish annual cost reduction goals for domestic and international freight and logistics. Negotiate favorable rates with freight vendors and identify most cost effective means to move materials both inbound and outbound.
Become proficient in all internal purchasing and RTV (return to vendor) functions. Examine all processes for improvements in efficiency and accuracy and document all changes to procedures for inclusion in ISO quality system.
Complete ongoing employee performance reviews for all direct reports per company schedule. Identify staffing and training needs to ensure continuous improvement and productivity increases.
Work with MBX quality manager to determine meaningful quality goals for the supply chain. Contribute to the attainment of applicable company quality goals.
Lead cross-functional supply chain group meetings. Identify critical issues, advance progress on supply chain initiatives and promote ongoing education on supply chain concepts and best practices.
Lead the supply chain group in developing an annual plan. Determine measurable goals and objectives for improving the MBX supply chain and align them with the stated company strategy.
Minimum of 5 years experience in the global computer components market and related supply chains.
Proven track record of effectively managing high-level vendor relationships.
Proven knowledge and experience in all aspects of warehousing and freight and logistics management, both domestic and international.
In depth understanding of supply chain concepts and metrics.
Team player with the confidence to voice an opinion and listen to opposing viewpoints, then strive to implement the strategy chosen for the good of the team.
Advanced skills in MS Excel.
Proven experience in project management relating to supply chain initiatives.
Ability to successfully manage, coach and mentor direct reports.
Excellent communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to analyze needs and develop and execute effective action plans.
