Brown University, Computing and Information Services seeks a qualified Instructional Media Specialist to join our Media Technology team.
The Instructional Media Specialist supports faculty and student use of creative media technology for teaching and learning; manages creative media technology services and spaces; researches, evaluates and develops appropriate technology for faculty and student use; provides training, support and documentation. The Instructional Media Specialist coaches and develops student staff who facilitate training and support in creative media technology. The individual in this position consults with faculty on student learning and its assessment, as it pertains to creating media for course assignments and projects. She/he collaborates with colleagues and campus units to effectively and efficiently deliver services.
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent education and experience.
For Grade 9E 1 year of experience in media production and in HD-quality video recording.
For Grade 10E 2 - 3 years of experience in media production and in HD-quality video recording.
Experience using and maintaining software for audio, video editing and media authoring.
Expert knowledge of the Macintosh platform and advanced multimedia hardware.
Familiarity with Windows platform, virtual reality and peripherals preferred.
Experience working with and training student workers preferred.
Familiarity with fine art printing preferred.
Familiarity with makerspaces and 3D printing preferred.
Knowledge of the use of digital media in music, art, theater, media studies or related discipline desired.
Ability to understand and present complex technical issues.
Excellent problem-solving and ability to provide technical assistance.
Demonstrated group and one-on-one training and teaching skills.
Excellent customer service.
Excellent communication skills in person and in writing.
Strong time management skills.
Positive and professional attitude; interest in learning new skills.
Ability to work independently and to work in a group as a member of a project team.
Candidate will be hired at the grade commensurate with their professional experience.
