Monitors FDA-approvals, drug manufacturer pipelines, and assesses drug utilization reports, in order to develop, execute, and optimize the system drug formulary.
Monitors FDA-approvals and drug manufacturer pipelines, assesses drug utilization reports, and manages formulary requests. Meets with stakeholders including clinicians and drug reps to evaluate formulary items and prepares drug monographs/evaluations/pharmacoeconomic analysis for System P&T Committee review to develop the system drug formulary. Develops and maintains formulary database and drug information database for system.
Assists in the development and implementation of utilization management programs including but not limited to: developing, reviewing, and evaluating and conducting retrospective Medication Use Evaluations (MUE) criteria, prior authorization, and auto-sub criteria.
Provides clinical consults on complex retrospective DUR cases and/or medication authorization requests. Suggests therapeutic alternatives to providers when sub-optimal therapies have been identified. Liaison with revenue integrity and specialty pharmacists. Conducts research and reviews of the literature on medication therapies when there is a high cost issue, quality of care, etc.
Leads or participates in the development and presentation of educational intervention programs.
Manages contract optimization, compliance and tracking for stewardship opportunities. Participates with supply chain on contracting for medications.
Assists with site NDC maintenance and standardization when possible. Provides recommendations for drug shortage.

Required: 1 Year Residency or 3 Years of related experience as a Pharmacist
Previous formulary/health plan management
Specialty residency in drug information or management
Expertise in oncology or specialty pharmacy care and management
Health system experience
