The position requires an extensive knowledge of software and operating systems, strong analytical / problem solving skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to plan, develop and administer complex computing resources.
Requires the equivalent* of a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science, at least 5 years of professional experience, to include supervision of employees , deploying Windows 10 software using tools such as Windows MDT, server administration, experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell, and experience setting up Hyper-V servers and virtual machines.
*A combination of education and work experience may be substituted for degree. Experience working with faculty and students preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a broad background and set of skills, including:
Proficient at deploying and supporting Windows 10 and other software, using tools such as MDT.
Proficient in the use and administration of Windows Server and Windows 10.
Solid understanding of network technologies (TCP/IP, LAN protocols and topologies).
Solid software, hardware and network troubleshooting skills.
Strong critical thinking and analysis skills. Excellent problem solving skills.
Strong organizational skills. Proven ability to assess, plan, develop, administer and support the computing needs of a large department. The ability to work with end users to develop custom solutions to their issues.
The ability to prioritize and multi-task. Proven ability to complete tasks with high attention to detail. Able to work independently and take initiative in providing assistance and solving problems. Able to work without close supervision.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work with diverse groups, translating their requests into technical support. Able to prepare clear and concise documentation, training material, user instructions, et cetera. Team player.
Proficient with PowerShell, or other scripting tools.
Proficiency with Mac OS and Linux would be a major plus.
Willingness to plan, learn and do what is necessary, to insure that computing resources are available where they are needed and when they are needed.
Familiar with the software used by the assigned department(s) (e.g.: ANYSYS and Solidworks for ENGR, Oracle and Hadoop for GPS, Java, C and Statistics for CISC, etc.)
