Working under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or other personnel within the group on a study to assess how emerging adult men who have sex with men (MSM) are influenced by where they go (their geographic context) and who they hang out with (their social context). We will use cell phone technologies (e.g., GPS, cell-phone delivered questions, use of partner seeking apps) to ask participants them questions about their location and social network to understand how these contexts relate to risky behavior (e.g., sexual risk, substance use). The research assistant will engage in outreach and participant recruitment and retention of emerging adult MSM in and around New Haven as well as conduct face to face interviews.
Essential Duties: 1. Participate in the recruitment of study subjects via outreach in New Haven neighborhoods and venues that are frequented by emerging adult men who have sex with men (e.g., clubs, organizations). 2. Conduct research activities such as administering surveys, questionnaires, and conducting structured interviews with potential subjects. 3. Serve as primary contact for research study subjects and help with retention of subjects. 4. Keep accurate and current subject records as required. 5. Assist in the preparation of protocols, consent forms and regulatory documents for the study. 6. Assist in practical design of research protocols. Participate in the practical conduct of research studies. 7. Share responsibility for general tasks of research unit, such as photocopying and filing, including maintenance of other research files, such as those related to regulatory documents and quality control systems.
