Position Summary The Director of Web and Mobile Operations (WMO) is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities associated with the architecture, technical infrastructure, and proper use of the university's website, portal framework, and the UIWApp. The Director is responsible for developing, communicating, and implementing strategy concerned with various mobile architectures and setting standards of use for the same. S/he is recognized for the highest level of technical expertise in web development and will have a thorough understanding of a wide range of web disciplines. Content curation is highly decentralized throughout the university environment with responsibility for published content placed at the school or department level. The Director acts in a consulting role to the Communication & Marketing department, other administrative areas, and all academic programs, to assist with useful web technologies that will facilitate their communication and marketing strategy and goals. S/he will work closely with other IRD directors on technical architecture and infrastructure requirements. The Director of WMO sits on the leadership team of the Information Resources Division (IRD), reporting to the Vice President/CIO.

Description of Job Duties • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities associated with the architecture, technical infrastructure and proper use of the university’s website, portal framework, and the university’s mobile application, UIWApp. • Develop strategy, goals, and standards for websites, portal operations, and the mobile app. • Stay current in knowledge of new web-oriented technologies, protocols, and frameworks. • Analyze, select, and implement technologies that enhance an architectural framework which supports a decentralized content curation model across the university. • Collaborate with the Director, Communications & Marketing, to establish policy and guidelines related to the publishing of content to the university’s website. • Assist organizational units in planning website initiatives and in implementing tools that help facilitate plans. • May act at times as a consultant to organizational units for an appropriate design and structure for the unit’s web presence. • Work with the department of Communications & Marketing and Instructional Technology in developing and coordinating user training for the use of technology tools and best practice methods to develop and publish content to the university’s .edu site, mobile platform, and portal. • Manage all aspects of web and mobile operations, including regular maintenance schedules and technology updates to meet infrastructure policy of keeping current. • Act as primary liaison and contract administrator to multiple vendor organizations in SaaS or consulting engagements regarding web, mobile, and portal platforms. • Supervise a small full-time staff and student assistants. • Develop and manage a small operational budget. • Other relevant and related duties as assigned.
Required Education Bachelor’s degree
Required Work Experience Five years of increasing responsibility in web, mobile, and/or portal technologies. Three years of management experience, including budget and supervision of personnel.
Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree. Five years of experience in a higher education technology management position.
