Froedtert Hospital & the Medical College of Wisconsin is a 536-bed academic medical center located just outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Comprehensive clinical services are provided by pharmacists and residents throughout the hospital and ambulatory care clinics. We offer several ASHP-accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residency training programs. PGY2 training is available in administration, critical care, oncology, drug information, ambulatory care, infectious disease, emergency medicine, informatics and medication safety. Residents are integrated into our progressive care model and have many opportunities to customize the program to meet individual goals. Clinical practice (staffing) is designed to emphasize continuity of care in the resident's specialty practice area . All residents have the opportunity to work with students, complete an academia rotation and participate in a teaching certificate program. Full benefit package included. PGY2 Drug Information (accredited, RPD: Megan Holsopple) - 1 position: The successful resident will be capable of practicing in a variety of settings, including academia, health system pharmacy, industry, and public health. The program provides comprehensive training and leadership opportunities. Learning experiences include Medication Utilization I & II, Medication Safety, Pharmacy Informatics, Medical Writing and Publication, Pharmacy Supply Chain & Budget, Investigational Drug Services, Antimicrobial, Anticoagulation, or Oncology Stewardship and other opportunities tailored to interests of the resident.
PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics (accredited, RPD: Jill Zimmerman) - 1 position: This innovative program provides comprehensive training in pharmacy informatics, preparing residents to assume the role of a pharmacy informaticist. Projects and longitudinal activities are tailored to resident's interests in pharmacy informatics and technology as well as being focused on key organizational initiatives. The resident will have opportunities for rotations in electronic health record management (inpatient, ambulatory, and oncology), administrative operations and technology, drug policy and information management, medication safety, design and human factors, clinical decision support, reporting and analytics, and informatics administration
PGY2 Medication Use Safety (candidate, RPD: Kristin Hanson) - 1 position: The Medication Safety residency program is designed to provide the resident with extensive experiences with medication safety and develop leadership skills. Learning experiences will include medication safety, leadership, pharmacy operations & automation, informatics, and medication utilization. The resident will have the opportunity to participate in patient safety curriculum through the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) as well as provide lectures through the MCW School of Pharmacy. Throughout the year, the resident will focus on various high risk processes and practice areas.
Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program
Graduated of ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy and eligible for pharmacist licensure in Wisconsin
