UW Information Technology is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW. Business & Finance is an internal unit of UW Information Technology (UW-IT) that provides critical business, financial and logistical support services to UW-IT divisions. This unit also is responsible for billing UW customers for optional Self-Sustaining Services offered to University departments.
UW-IT has an outstanding full time opportunity for a Sourcing Specialist.
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for leading cost saving initiatives through use of the sourcing processes (RFx, negotiations), including managing relationships with key suppliers. The Sourcing Specialist is also responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of supply chain strategies with key suppliers.
This position will work directly with internal business stakeholders to manage activities that facilitate effective vendor selection processes, effective negotiations of agreements, and ongoing contract and vendor management support to deliver continuous cost, quality, performance, savings and process improvement to the business. A key requirement will be to manage the negotiation and contracting process of strategic, complex and critical agreements for UW-IT.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or related field or experience
Five years' experience as Buyer/IT Procurement
Experience in Technology sourcing. This includes sourcing for software, hardware & services that will be installed on various platforms mainframe, desktop, server and cloud. Experience leading negotiations for complex, mission critical technology
Strong negotiation, project management, and analytical skills
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multitask
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
Communicate effectively with all levels of management both orally and in writing and provide sound rationale for recommendations
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
A nationally recognized certification in the field of procurement
Prior experience in a higher education environment. Experience in the creation and management of contracts and other contracting documents
Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to solve complex problems that may not have one clear answer
High degree of business ethics and accountability
Experience with Budget Management and tracking and asset management
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
