The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical leadership, direction and support to Manufacturing in the areas of methods, labor standards, tooling, equipment, plant layout, process improvements, and automation. Develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies, final assemblies, and testing. Interface with design engineering, operations and quality engineering regarding component production and characteristics. Estimates manufacturing cost determines time standards and makes recommendations for engineering changes and process requirements of new or existing work environments. Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. Essential Functions: Function as a liaison with project engineering, manufacturing, and the customer regarding the implementation of electro-mechanical assemblies, secondary operations, and assembly programs. Provide technical support/solutions to manufacturing processes, manage to established yield and throughput, and drive for cost reduction and optimal quality. Respond to manufacturing problems by investigating and resolving problems to assure a continuing flow of production. Establish and maintain optimum production methods, standards, tooling and equipment for all products. Responsible for all aspects of assigned manufacturing processes to demonstrate complete Process Ownership which includes: Documentation and Technical floor support to meet quality and productivity standards. Equipment set-up and operation. Hardware operation and maintenance. Machine programming and software maintenance. Responsible for training and certifying manufacturing operators in all aspects of assigned processes. Maintain and Analyze process data to ensure process control -Responsible for developing and maintaining layouts. -Identify and implement methods, process and equipment improvements. Coordinate the introduction of new products into the facility. This involves extensive coordination with the integrated project management group for schedules, developing cost estimates, performing manufacturing design reviews, bill of material structures, process design development and prototype builds. Participates with Advanced Mfg. Engineering to plan and implement new process technologies in the facility. Assist in the introduction and/or transfer of products to manufacturing, including procuring and implementing tooling and production equipment and initiating of routings, bills of material, manufacturing work instructions, and any other required documentation. Drive process improvements. Identify core value-adding processes and maximizing their performance and productivity. Integrating and streamlining processes throughout the supply chain, and ensuring adoption of best maximum efficiency. Provide continuing manufacturing engineering through the initiation of improvements in systems and procedures, waste minimization, and support of new designs of an existing product. -Ability to follow procedures and maintain complex electrical and mechanical production equipment. -Demonstrate an ability to coordinate activities through all levels of the organization to achieve objectives. -Manage projects proficiently, efficiently, and with full accountability for project results. Ensuring that all constituent partners and associates for successful project implementation are managed and coordinated to completion of project goals. Demonstrate project management skills utilizing personal computers and appropriate software to maximize productivity. -Use personal computer and mainframe programs to obtain, organize, and analyze data and to prepare charts and reports. Learn software skills required in word processing, spreadsheet, and SAP. Other beneficial software skills include Auto CAD, report generation, and databases.
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or related technical field Previous experience with the application of basic engineering principles, theories, and techniques. A minimum of five or more years' experience in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering preferably in an electro-mechanical manufacturing and test environment with knowledge of latest surface mount manufacturing processes and process improvement techniques.
