The goal of the Transportation and Distribution (T&D) Manager is to guarantee a positive customer experience through safe, on-time, in-full and cost-competitive delivery of Petrochemical products in North America (US, Canada and Mexico).
Achieving this goal requires:
Full compliance to BASF's Storage and Transportation Safety Guidelines
Clear understanding our customer base and their unique requirements
Proper design and dimensioning of distribution networks and transportation fleets
Efficient management of services provided by 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) partners
Expertise in Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash processes and systems
Proficiency in Continuous Improvement methodologies and techniques

Formula for Success: You Will...
Promote operational excellence and full compliance to BASF's safety standards for all 3rd Party Logistics providers.
Serve as the Transportation Safety Coordinator and Emergency Response Contact.
Design the Petrochemicals transportation and distribution network (expand/contract/modify the network footprint) and lead the execution of its implementation in alignment with business requirements.
Direct our corporate Supply Chain Operations and Transportation Procurement teams in (1) the development and maintenance of marine, rail and bulk truck lanes, (2) negotiation of freight rates and, (3) management of logistics supplier's performance according to service level agreements (SLAs).
Manage all transportation and distribution assets and costs according to business requirements and budgets.
Respond promptly to customer requests related to transportation and distribution, collaboratively involving cross-functional departments to insure accuracy of the response and the sustainability of corrective actions, when applicable
Define, set targets and track T&D Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Process Performance Indicators (PPIs) such as, but not limited to: delivery reliability, transportation reliability, freight cost, asset utilization (tanks and fleets), non-conformance resolution cycle time, and demurrage.
Apply Continuous Improvement methodologies to identify and implement improvements in transportation management processes and procedures.
Manage processing of all freight, terminal, and warehouse invoices, validating the accuracy of the charges and ensuring timely payment.
Provide visibility to the business team of all costs involved with the transport and distribution of products.
Directly supervise two Supply Chain Analysts based in the same office. Carry out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, code of conduct, and applicable laws.
