This combined PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency provides management opportunities at the VCU Health. This is a two-year, combined residency program that concludes with the completion of PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration residencies. Required administration rotations include clinical services management, financial management, health-system pharmacy administration and leadership management, human resources, inpatient operations management, supply chain management and staffing/operations, as well as required and elective PGY1 Pharmacy Residency rotations. A variety of elective rotations are available, including academic administration, informatics, medication safety, and HCA Health corporate operational and clinical pharmacy health-system management rotations. The resident participates in the didactic and APPE teaching of VCU Doctor of Pharmacy students at VCU. The combined program provides experiences in research and scholarship through two projects and participation in ongoing research activities. An optional two-year Master of Science in Health Administration degree program through VCU is available and recent candidates have taken this opportunity.
A Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy is required.
