Bard College Information Technology is seeking an experienced, creative, and driven manager and technologist to advance Bard’s infrastructure, create lasting improvements, and support the mission of the college.
Reporting directly to the CIO, the Manager of Networks and Systems is a hands-on technical expert and leader of the extremely capable teams in Networking and Systems Administration.
The ideal applicant will have several years of personnel and project management experience, with demonstrated technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Bard IT offers a ‘small shop’ atmosphere with a vital role in a large organization. There are many opportunities to become involved in campus projects and the position will offer freedom and support to create, experiment, and learn.
Account and identity management, authentication services.
Server and application architecture.
Networking infrastructure and security.
Leading and participating in on-call work.
Collaboration platform (G Suite) management.
Information security policy and process.
Managing and developing enterprise-wide critical applications and workflows.

The applicant will be expected to have experience in most of the following:
System administration and networking.
Linux, Windows Server, ESXi, and storage systems including NetApp.
Cisco IOS, network topology, wireless deployment.
Cloud services and support: AWS and GCP.
Common Linux applications: Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, MySQL, etc.
Principles and application of information security.
VMware ESXi. vSphere suite.
G Suite administration and apps.
Server monitoring and backups.
Familiarity with all of the following: Bash, Python, systemd, SELinux, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SSL, TCP/IP, version control (Git, SVN)
Some familiarity with the following: Perl, PHP, Kerberos, system automation tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, etc.), Cisco IOS, NAS/SAN. Applications including: Confluence, Sympa, Wordpress, Moodle, FreeIPA, CAS, and Banner.
