Description: Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing for Goods & Services, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of best-in-class strategic supplier relationships. This person will motivates key suppliers to invest in the College's long term strategies, maximize our buying power to continually drive down costs, and optimize our network to find the right capabilities from the right source at the right cost. This role reviews and negotiates acceptable contract terms and conditions. Manages the contract approval process, document storage and bid calendar. Works directly with supervisor regarding e-Commerce to ensure compatibility with department initiatives and business objectives. This position establishes and maintains strategic and successful relationships with co-workers, internal customers, outside suppliers, and other business partners. This person will work collaboratively and maintain a customer service focus. This position is also responsible for collaborating with Higher Ed Consortiums in order to identify consortium contracts which can be implemented at the College. S/he possess extensive and demonstrated professional knowledge and proven experience in supply chain management practices.

Required Knowledge: Bachelors degree preferably in business and related discipline.Minimum of 5 Plus years direct experience preferably in not-for-profit and/or procurement environment.Must have strong analytical skills along with the ability to learn and use new technology, experience with Sungards Banner Reporting System preferred.Must demonstrate strong negotiation skills, RFP development and execution. Knowledge of contract law, accounting, finance, and marketing as they relate to Procurement.Thorough working technical knowledge and/or understanding of procurement practices, ability to assess and manage College needs and communicate those needs to the vendor community.Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills needed to analyze trends and to evaluate products and services.Strong leadership, communication (oral and written), listening skills, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.S/he must be flexible and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Must have demonstrated an understanding of e-procurement tools and the ability to incorporate them into sourcing strategies.Prior supervisory experience helpful as well as willingness to work as part of a team.
Preferred/Desirable Knowledge: Certified by a recognized Procurement or Sourcing Association. MBA degree. Preferred candidate would have more than 5 years of directly related experience in procurement or supply chain management in comparable institutional environment. Demonstrated experience with cost reduction principles and practices within a complex and diverse organization.

Build effective and strong strategic relationships with various internal stakeholders and outside suppliers to drive results and influence change. Provide assistance to stakeholders with acquisition strategies and procurement options by analyzing the department spend data which will lead to commodity-strategic development. Contributes to the vendor selection process by qualifying outside suppliers and determine the total cost of ownership with achieving optimum product quality, service and delivery. Acts as the liaison between Emerson College departments and suppliers in all phases of the purchasing function including but not limited to competitive bid process to the issuance of the PO. Creates and manages competitive RFIs, RFPs, RFQs and works with Higher Ed consortiums and cooperatives for additional leverage.
Perform financial analysis of supplier data, organizational spend, and project data. Contributes to the development and maintenance of key department performance indicators. Track and report cost savings achieved.
Responsible for the contract management and approval process. Ensures proper review and approval of contracts by managing the workflow process and electronic storage of contracts, as well as the bid calendar. Works with appropriate offices to resolve contract administration issues such as disputes, changes in requirements, or interpretation of terms and conditions. Participates in the development and maintenance of an ongoing supplier management program. Tracks vendor performance through periodic financial reviews, product performance, customer satisfaction surveys, discrepancies, and contract compliance. Goals include delivery of value to the College, improved process management, and spend under management.
Serves as a resource regarding procurement procedures, sourcing time requirements, products and services, and administrative requirements for procurement of goods and services along with assisting in developing diversity supplier initiatives. On occasion, acts as alternate for Procurement Services Analyst.
