The Senior Director, Supply Chain Logistics is responsible to lead the overall strategy and function of Procurement, Demand/Supply Planning and Inbound Logistics within the Supply Chain. This is a highly strategic newly created role that will oversee a significant spend of the COGS profile and be responsible to deliver economic value to the company, while being a central part of a growth oriented digital and ecommerce effort.
Main goals are to optimize product flow, service and cost by collaborating with all functions of the business impacting the Supply Chain and also related areas such as Finance and Marketing. The challenge is to develop and execute logistics and systems strategies to improve service, reduce costs and execute LEAN initiatives in impact areas of the business and throughout the entire Supply Chain.
This executive will be responsible for building a structured and data-supported process for gathering information, (on a timely basis), which will enable more accurate demand forecasting, a better understanding of business direction and risks. They will also improve consensus with analytics-based decision making in the areas of production planning, vendor negotiation, purchasing/sourcing and transportation/logistics.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Formulate and implement operational initiatives to improve inbound delivery service and reduce cost for both domestic and international distribution centers (DC).
Provide analysis on data sets to optimize logistics network across multiple distribution centers. Deep knowledge of logistics will be key.
Create strong relationships with key vendors and carriers.
Support all divisions of supply chain in enforcement of Compliance Contractor Guidelines.
Collaborate with Finance to forecast monthly and annual order volumes to support overall business objectives.
Lead the development of the S&OP process. Develop training, define goals, key metrics, agenda, ensure monthly meetings occur in timely fashion to support goals and ensure key decisions documented.
Review and analyze inventory levels (on hand and on order) to determine future purchasing strategies.
Provide input to Supplier Scorecards and ensure compliance to operating procedures for pick-up and delivery of product.
Assist in supporting the annual and monthly Budgeting process by providing accurate forecasts for Food, Non-Food and Inbound Transportation costs.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required, supply chain focus preferred, and advanced degree in related field may be advantageous. 10-15 years of professional experience in supply chain logistics coordination and planning within food manufacturing and/or the CPG sectors. Candidates should have a demonstrated expertise in Supply Chain concepts and “best practices”, including Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Materials Planning, Inventory management as well as familiarity in areas such as, Purchasing/Sourcing, warehousing, Logistics and Inventory Management.
