Description: The Department of Applied Engineering Technology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the field of Applied Engineering, starting in August 2018. The appointment is expected to be at the assistant professor level. In particular the Department is seeking qualified candidates who can develop a collaborative and innovative research program in one of following areas: quality, advanced manufacturing, supply chain, alternative energy, energy transfer technology, fluid transfer technology or materials technology. The program should align with the Department and the College's interests in Applied Science and Technology. The hired faculty is expected to show commitment to teaching excellence. She/he is expected to teach Applied Engineering Technology courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, develop courses and curricula, direct students in research, and provide service to the University and community. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain a vigorous research program in quality, advanced manufacturing, supply chain, energy transfer technology, fluid transfer technology or materials technology, secure extramural funding, and direct the research activities of MS students in the Technology Management program. Mentoring undergraduate research students is also expected as Applied Engineering Technology majors in the department follow a curriculum where students are encouraged to research. A candidate whose teaching and research efforts will promote the mission of the Applied Engineering Technology Department and the strategic vision of the College of Science and Technology (COST) as well as the University is highly desired. Collaboration with colleagues from the sciences, mathematics, and other technology areas is expected. Service to the Department, the College and the University is also a requirement of the position. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral research university dedicated to learning, discovery, and community engagement. The College of Science and Technology is research oriented and fosters academic excellence through innovative programs, critical thinking, and intellectual inquiry to prepare students for the 21st century global workforce. The College plays a pivotal role in further advancing the mission of the University by emphasizing preeminence in STEM and promoting curricular advancement, scientific discovery, and technological innovation. The College houses the departments of applied engineering technology, biology, built environment, chemistry, computer systems technology, energy and environmental systems, graphic design systems, mathematics, and physics. The Department of Applied Engineering Technology (AET) enrolls over 200 undergraduate and graduate majors. The Department offers three degree programs: a Bachelor of Applied Engineering Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Motorsports Technology, and a Master of Science in Technology Management. Both undergraduate programs are approved by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE). In addition the Department has successfully completed it's first ABET accreditation visit. The department is planning for a PhD program in Applied Science and Technology. Internal job number: 001212 Requirements: PhD in Applied Engineering Technology, ME, EE, ISE, or closely related field by the anticipated date of appointment Preferred: 1) Postdoctoral research in analytical or application in the applied engineering technology field.
