Advertised Summary Job Description: CUMC is seeking a senior leader to assume the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO will report to CUMC's Chief Operating Officer and will have a reporting relationship to the university's Chief Information Officer. The CIOs for the Dental, Public Health, and Nursing Schools will have a reporting relationship to the new CIO.
For this executive position, CUMC seeks an extraordinary leader with demonstrable success in both IT leadership as well as IT organizational transformation. Building trust and credibility through delivery, demonstrating commitment to operational excellence and customer service to the variety of constituencies at CUMC, and establishing the appropriate operating and financial models for vast spectrum of computing needs are amongst the chief priorities for this role. CUMC requires a true IT executive to lead the campus to the next version of IT at CUMC to meet these objectives.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus seven years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: In addition, the CIO will have many of the following experiences, capabilities, and attributes.
-Experience building and leading a large team of high-level managers with specialized expertise; leading a complex, large workforce of technology professionals across many technology skill sets, fostering a customer-focused service culture;
-Executive presence and leadership; listening, communicating and decision-making across a highly educated team;
-Experience working with internal advisory committees of constituents who are users of the services provided; outstanding skills in the development of business cases; demonstrated success in strategic investment planning and implementation;
-A demonstrated track record of creating and managing complex financial plans of sizeable budgets with multiple sources of revenue and differing requirements for expense allocation; experience in overseeing shared-services governance and funding models; demonstrated success in transparency and accountability of financial management;
-Experience in negotiating contracts and building innovative, mutually beneficial vendor relationships;
-Experience in a research university within an academic health system is preferred;
-Broad technical knowledge, ideally with understanding of emerging IT trends such as cloud computing, cybersecurity and data analytics;
-Highly developed verbal and written communication skills;
-Knowledge of HIPAA-HITECH, and other regulatory regimes relevant to CUMC;
-Open and transparent communication and behavior; and
-Highest ethical standards and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters-level or other advanced professional degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred; qualified candidates are eligible for a faculty appointment in the Department of Biomedical Informatics.
