Full-Time Assistant Research Engineer – Energy Storage and Battery

The Winston Chung Global Energy Center (WCGEC) at the University of California-Riverside (UCR) seeks an Assistant Professional Researcher, in the area of energy storage including battery. WCGEC is a major multi-disciplinary research center at UCR, focusing on both integrated energy and power systems and next generation energy generation and storage materials with significant laboratory infrastructure for research on new battery technologies, solar power generation, and smart grid technologies. This position is part of a growing community of researchers and industry partners to address the broad area of energy research at WCGEC and the UCR Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE). This recruitment is for an Assistant Research Engineer, a Ph.D. is required at the start of service. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate should have several years of experience in the field of energy storage, with working knowledge of advanced battery and other energy storage. The candidate should have the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team interacting with diverse stakeholder groups. We expect the applicant will successfully launch and maintain an independent, externally funded, research program. The candidate should be able to manage various multi-user facilities including energy generation and storage labs. Prior experience in development of grant proposals and participation in graduate student supervision are desirable. Teaching is not required for this position.
