The Director, Mechanical Supply Chain Management will be based in Skudai, Johor. This position serves as the primary supplier-facing role regarding sourcing and supply chain management for the assigned commodities and programs with Flex Industrial & Emerging Industries. The Director, Mechanical Supply Chain Management will attend to customer and divisional issues regarding the flow of material into Flex Industrial in support of the customer’s programs and ensure overall customer satisfaction with regard to incoming material and supply chain management.
We are looking for someone who demonstrates:
Understanding of effective supply chain management in a manufacturing environment (preferably in mechanical manufacturing)
Success in supplier relationship management. This experience must include experience in interacting with external suppliers on a direct “person to person” basis
Experience in non-confrontational issue resolution with customers (both internal and external)
Negotiation skills in achieving favorable cost and service provisions
Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
New Business Development Support – Supports the business development activities of the Divisional customers, as required by the VP GM of the Flex Industrial Division. Such activities may include preparing and presenting information to SSCMs or customers as to Flex Industrial’s supply chain management practices and capabilities. Provides Customer Quote Development for new business opportunities for assigned commodities
Customer Quote Development – Serves as the lead for quote development with respect to all materials support required for new business opportunities with his/her assigned commodities. Such activities will include receiving the materials portion of all related customer quotes, determining the appropriate strategy to source and price the related materials, consolidating all information questions regarding customer’s provided information, resolving all issues with the supply base, and providing the completed materials quotation (pricing and terms)
Mechanical Supply Chain Strategy – Develop the sourcing and supply chain strategy for all Divisional customer programs within assigned commodities and ensure agreement within the Flex organization of such strategy as well as agreement with the Divisional customers. Such activities will include the participation in the selection of the Flex manufacturing site to support the customer (done in conjunction with the Divisional Operations VPs and VP of Global Product Launch), the selection of suppliers (incl. Vertical Integration) to support Flex production and the logistics network related to incoming material
Mechanical Sourcing – Lead the timely execution of sourcing and supply chain strategy for Divisional customer programs within assigned commodities following the Flex Industrial Supplier Selection & Part & Approval Process. Such activities will include supplier pre-selection, supplier technical discussions incl. capacity reservations, supplier T&Cs verification vs. quote, final supplier selection and transition of activity to the Flex manufacturing site at procurement ordering release
Customer Satisfaction Support – Provide support to Flex Industrial SSCMs and account management teams regarding customer issues and questions on materials and mechanical supply chain management. Such support may include responding to customer technical questions, inquiries on schedule or costing questions initiated by Flex Industrial SSCM team
Continuous Improvement Projects – Identify and facilitate the implementation of process and supply chain changes that will improve the profitability and asset utilization for Flex Industrial with assigned Divisional customers while ensure acceptable levels of customer service and cost performance. Such improvements include landed cost improvements; lead-time improvements; increase Flex control of supply; promotion and use of Flex “preferred” suppliers.
Here is some of what you’ll need (required):
Bachelor’s degree in business management, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline; MBA preferred
Exceptional program management skills having managed multiple, complex programs simultaneously with respect to order schedule adherence, cost and inventory
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in one or more disciplines of supply chain management and operations related to mechanical assemblies or commodities. Such disciplines to include commodity management, sourcing, initial purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, assembly & test, logistics or other related area
Candidate must be a self-starter, highly-motivated and able to effectively achieve results in a largely autonomous work environment
Ability to influence and successfully lead in a fast-paced, matrix-reporting, multi-cultural environment
