Position Summary The Buyer will be responsible for purchasing products for the organization to use or resell, evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts and review product quality. They will work in a collaborate environment with the Purchasing team to develop, communicate and accomplish the Company’s goals and objectives.
Job Description • Responsible for purchasing complex or technical materials, supplies or services • Evaluate bids, select and recommend suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service • Negotiate and settle with suppliers damage claims, rejections, issues, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering changes • Evaluate and monitor contracts to ensure vendors and supplies comply with the terms and conditions of the contract and determine the need for changes • Conduct supplier site visits and rate them as to production capability, performance and delivery as needed • Provide work leadership for co-workers as needed • Lead project teams which align to organizational goals • Develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation • Negotiate best vendor terms, pricing, and delivery based on budget and schedule requirements • Provide superior business stakeholder experiences, while building long-term relations and demonstrating a passion toward stakeholder commitments
Qualifications / Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Operations or Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics or related field • Experienced professional with a complete understanding and application of purchasing principles, concepts, practices and standards as demonstrated through no less than 6 years purchasing experience • Full knowledge of industry practices • Must be able to operate with a wide degree of creativity and latitude • Strong interpersonal skills • Ability to speak with many level of an organization • Food manufacturing experience preferred
Travel Requirement: • First year travel will be up to 70% of the time, potential for multiple weeks at a time. • Beyond first year travel will be up to 40% of the time
