Our supplier management teams are focused on enabling our business by developing innovative sourcing strategies and negotiating long term partnerships with our suppliers. We are seeking an Information Technology (IT) Category Leader to join our Shared Services Supplier Management team. This is a chance to be part of a team whose collective experience spans the globe and industries.
The Category Leader is an individual contributor and pivotal leadership role that works with partners at multiple levels and mentors within our supplier management organization. Category Leaders develop integrated strategies across Boeing businesses to maximize supplier relationships that enable business results. You will have a direct impact on Boeing’s goals by providing insightful analysis and sourcing/contracting strategy recommendations. Primary focus will be on categories supporting IT Infrastructure, Services, ERP, Network and Telecom. This includes IT requirements to automate Boeing’s factory.
We are seeking a leader that establishes strong relationships with business leaders and has the ability to influence strategic decision-making. Category Leaders have strong operational skills to manage complex/competing project teams and present compelling recommendations using industry intelligence and data analytics as the foundation for decision-making. These individuals build industry relationships and monitor/analyze industry/technology trends to proactively identify opportunities, reduce cost, minimize risk, protect supply chain/business and enable Boeing competitiveness.
This role includes leading cross-functional teams to develop:
Supply Chain Architectures (a company strategy focused on evaluating service delivery models and supply chain impacts/opportunities)
Category Strategic Plans (a sourcing and contracting strategy involving evaluation of market, current state environment and positioning Boeing for future success)
Category Profiles (an evaluation of market trends, Boeing’s competitive position/supply base and discovery of supplier/procurement opportunities)
Other Business Process/Procurement Recommendations (e.g. negotiation strategies based on research and analysis)
These key deliverables will:
Develop contracting and negotiation strategies for strategic sourcing events
Develop enterprise plan to manage capacity and capability
Develop sustainable supplier management practices
Develop demand profile and identify niche support
Assess current and potential supply base
Identify risk and support mitigation plans
Ensure key performance indicators are in place to manage performance
Communicate strategy, performance, risk and opportunities to stakeholders and senior leaders
Enable the community to function as one organization across business organizations
Facilitate agreement with business partners and other stakeholders
Technical bachelor's degree; A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
More than 3 years experience working in Supplier Management function
At least 2 years of clearly demonstrated project management experience
Experience working on cross functional teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A comfortable ability to communicate with individual's at all levels of an organization is critical
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
You will also need strong leadership skills, the ability to build positive working relationships and have a demonstrated ability to work in matrix organizations with people at all levels. Additionally, effective communication along with analytic and strategic planning capabilities will be critical.
Deep knowledge of procurement and category management best practices (e.g. benchmarking, should cost, total cost of ownership, RFX, sourcing)
Experience conducting complex negotiations and development of negotiation strategies
Strong analytical skills including the ability to work with large data sets from multiple sources
Demonstrated knowledge of: Cloud services and sourcing, software as a service, platform as a service and/or infrastructure as a service
IT experience in the areas of direct procurement, management or implementation.
