Brown University Computing and Information Services is seeking a Manager of Hardware Services to provide operational management and strategic leadership of the CIS Hardware Services team, including Service & Repair and IT Stores Operations. This is a pivotal role in maintaining the reliable supply, quality and service level of computers, printers, and mobile devices for the entire Brown community. This position is also responsible for managing the day to day supervision of approximately five employees plus a small number of students and/or interns.
Required: Bachelorâ™s Degree or equivalent training and experience
5+ years of experience within a mixed IT environment
Expertise with computer/printer/mobile hardware specification, deployment, management, service & repair
CompTIA A+, AppleCare ATT, or Dell TechDirect certifications or equivalent experience preferred
Supervisory experience required
Mac and Windows centralized management technologies such as SCCM and jamf (SCCM and/or Casper/jamf certifications or experience preferred)
Strong parallel focus on high customer satisfaction and supportive team leadership
Advanced professional service and repair knowledge of computer/printer/mobile hardware
High initiative to collaborate with other internal teams to meet challenges
Strategic vision to select efficient technologies, optimize processes, and maximize awareness and responsiveness to CIS and community needs
Ability to multitask and prioritize competing tasks and projects to meet the goals of the organization
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are essential. Superior customer service and customer focus skills are required.
Ability and willingness to learn and teach various technologies to staff and others.
Ability to keep abreast of new developments and innovations in the use of computers as they apply to the higher education user community at Brown.
Ability to work in and foster a collaborative team environment.
Experience in vendor and budget management is preferred.
Experience in working in higher education preferred.
This position requires occasional lifting of equipment up to 70 pounds.
Driverâ™s license required.
This position may occasionally be required to work outside regular business hours.
