Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager for University Procurement Services. This position reports to the Continuous Improvement Lead – Procurement Services. The Continuous Improvement Manager is a member of the Procurement organization, and will lead the Process Collaboration Teams. This position is ultimately accountable for enabling procurement excellence through improvements around business process and systems, the Manager will be responsible for documenting current processes in Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Travel and Expense, and identifying and driving improvements.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Operates in a matrix organization and serves as a direct resource and subject matter expert in the areas of governance, maintenance and improvement of Procurement processes, including work standards design, process assessments, and business case development.
Works across Rutgers communities to ensure that improvements are identified and implemented university wide.
Acts as a transformational change agent to establish a sustained culture of continuous improvement; promote and support a culture of process improvement through the use of continuous improvement processes and tools with University partners and stakeholders.
Develops and implements standard work practices, and lead workflow simplification, optimization, and process design activities; support workflow automation and process automation projects.
Works with Procurement and University managers to identify, manage, and drive continuous improvement projects that impact focus on customer value and maximize ROI.
Assists CPO with project prioritization decisions by providing or reviewing business cases, ensuring accurate projections on value delivery, ROI, savings and benefits.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Management
Seven years of experience in procurement, or other relevant supply chain related field
Five of the years of experience should include progressive Continuous Improvement experience in a services organization, preferably Procurement or Finance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong level of experience and knowledge specific to the supported P2P Process
Extensive project portfolio and a consistent track record in the delivery of process improvement projects or technical projects
An uncompromising commitment to customer satisfaction
Effective and strong partnership and relationship building skills with key stakeholders
Ability to reinforce a culture oriented on customer experience and focused on continuous improvement while building employee-centric repeatable and sustainable processes
Experience in workshop design and facilitation of stakeholders in collaborative problem solving
Track record of building positive working relationships with people who work in a challenging and at times stressful work environment
Analytical and strategic thinker, and highly developed problem-solving skills
Ability to analyze complex data in order to draw supportable conclusions and recommendations.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects, and daily planned and unplanned operational activities
Process simulation and modelling experience
Strong presentation skills; can speak across various forums and communicate to broad, diverse audience
Proficiency at using Microsoft's suite of Office products
10+ years of experience in procurement, or other relevant supply chain related field
5+ years of progressive Continuous Improvement experience in a services organization, preferably Procurement or Finance.
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
Lean / Six Sigma certification (Green / Black Belt)
Experience in working with automated Oracle expense systems
Experience with purchasing and account payable systems, preferably Oracle and MarketPlace
