Lucas Systems, Inc. is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to lead Lucas's hardware-related initiatives, including identifying, testing, and supporting 3rd party hardware, establishing partnerships with hardware manufacturers, and researching the use of new hardware-based platforms and technologies that will add value to Lucas's solutions.
Oversee and improve Lucas's hardware evaluation and certification processes to insure 3rd party hardware (mobile devices, headsets, barcode scanners, smart watches, smart glasses, etc.) included with Lucas solutions performs as required.
Establish relationships/partnerships with 3rd party hardware providers.
As required, lead or assist Lucas's Customer Support Team in investigating/troubleshooting when hardware issues are reported from the field.
Research state-of-the-art hardware and technologies which can be leveraged in Lucas solutions, and develop proof-of-concepts and business cases around them.
Handle internal and external questions about Lucas's hardware options
Assist in the creation and ongoing updates of Lucas's product and R&D roadmaps.
Develop and maintain hardware-related documentation such as an approved devices catalog, certification procedures/records, user guides, and device provisioning procedures.
Track and asses equipment repair rates to ensure fielded equipment is meeting durability expectations.
BS in a technical/engineering discipline
5+ years systems engineering or hardware/software development experience
Familiarity with evaluating and testing hardware devices such as mobile computers, Bluetooth headsets, and Bluetooth barcode scanners
Experience working with equipment designed for industrial use – such as mobile devices from industrial device manufacturers like Zebra Technologies and Honeywell
Experience working with hardware vendors to troubleshoot system issues.
Proven experience with Wi-Fi / wireless network troubleshooting and design
Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RFID, NFC, vision, augmented/mixed reality

Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Effective organizational skills and ability to be attentive to details
Programming skills desirable but not required
Knowledge of warehouse systems and operations is preferred but not required
