The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science (ECECS) in the Tagliatela College of Engineering at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in electrical engineering with the expected starting date of August 20 2018.
Responsibilities: Teaching a mix of courses in data science and areas of electrical engineering. Develop a research program that complements existing research activities in the department and college with application of data science to cyber-physical systems, signal processing, IoT, or other areas, and engages graduate and undergraduate students. Opportunities for research collaboration exist within the college and across the university. Scholarly publications and grant writing to establish funded research is expected. Service at the program, departmental, college and university levels on various working groups and committees, is also expected. Other duties may include working with corporations to secure industry-sponsored design projects and outreach/recruiting.
A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and expertise in the application of data science techniques to communication, autonomous systems, or robotics. Backgrounds in cyber-physical systems, signal processing, IoT, and related application areas are desired.
A strong commitment to and evidence of potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and research.
Candidates with interest active learning, experiential learning, and student engagement are desirable.
