Position Summary: Working closely with UC researchers and HREC's outreach staff, the intern will develop a website to make the project's research and data accessible and understandable to the public at large. The specific goals will be as follows:
-Create a web page within the HREC site that is a hub for education and outreach for the UC Berkeley wildlife research projects -Make use of the visually compelling nature of camera trap and GPS data to produce interactive maps and visualizations -Develop videos, quizzes, or other content that helps relate research findings to the public
The intern will work closely with staff to develop and refine the target products and identify datasets that are best suited to this work.
This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.

Must possess valid California Driver License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.
Employment is contingent upon successfully clearing the FBI/DOJ background check both from the Department of Justice and the FBI, prior to the first day of UC Employment.
Consistent with policy and practice with regard to student employees, incumbents must meet the criteria for student status. This is a temporary position that may involve irregular hours and work schedule that is flexible enough to accommodate the academic program of the student while meeting the needs of the department.
This is a variable position advertised at 40%; however, there may be opportunity to work more as needed.
Must be enrolled or accepted in an accredited community college, state college, or University and must provide proof of student status.

Duty 3: Raise awareness of web based tools through community events, educational visits and marketing. Function:EDUCATION PROGRAM DELIVERY Percent: 10
Job Requirements - Working knowledge and experience using web-based tools and other media outlets to disseminate educational information. - Highly motivated and qualified intern with a demonstrable background in web development and data visualization. -Written and oral communication skills to interact with individuals from various backgrounds. - Competence in ArcGIS or similar mapping tools. -Able to work in dynamic team environment. -Self-motivated and organized. - Must be enrolled or accepted in an accredited community college, state college, or University and must provide proof of student status. Required
Experience with wildlife or other environmental research and education/outreach. Experience translating complex scientific findings to general public. Able to take technical data and make it visually engaging and interactive. Preferred
