The Division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Assistant Director of Finance and Business Operations.
The Assistant Director of Finance and Business Operations provides analysis and control of operational and special project budgets for the Information Technology Services (ITS) organization. This position is an integral part of the leadership team within the ITS Finance and Administration division as the role supports the Director of Finance and Administration in the overall financial management of ITS, in support of the VP/CIO. The ADF supervises 1 Data Analyst and 1 Budget Coordinator in working together to develop revenue and expense projections; develop pricing models for services; review and authorize budget transactions as part of a monthly reconciliation process; provide reporting on a regular basis of departmental and project expense and revenue reviews to functional directors as well as to the VP/CIO; participate in vendor contract review; oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable and procurement; engage in department planning and policy- making; participate in divisional projects; provide divisional reporting; collaborate and facilitate with administrative team (HR, admin, software licensing, etc) within the designated Information Technology Services departments, which include administrative coordination, asset management, contract liaison, departmental financial operations and services. Serves as back-up to Director of Finance and Administration in times of extended absence or as needed.
The Assistant Director, through the use of the organization's financial management tool, will support the investment of ITS initiatives aligned with the mission and goals of the university. The position, with the support of the Director of Finance & Administration, will promote cost transparency and multi-year budget management across the ten (10) ITS departments. This includes ITS personnel cost management as well as IT infrastructure/services cost management.
This position will help craft a strategy to unify the departmental finance team to bring together a cohesive set of processes, procedures, analyses and metrics to measure and plan expenditures according to plans. Additionally, this position is expected to mentor and groom the ITS finance team into a professional and high-performing unit that provides value-added service to the ITS functional divisions.
To ensure that essential services are provided to the University community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed.
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of financial management experience, preferably in an information technology division with experience in accounting, finance, and general operations.
BA/BS required, MBA preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationsips with management, staff, and internal/external customers
Ability to work independently and excel in a complex environment required.
The ability to research and interpret data and an understanding of financial and operational systems. Familiarity with IT systems (i.e. ServiceNow) is a plus.
Experience in translating and communicating key analyses and assumptions in a concise fashion to Senior Management for decision making purposes.
Demonstrated computer proficiency/skills with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools) and experience with financial systems required. Must also have the ability to train others.
