EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Data and Information Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position with the option to work remotely or from the Louisville, CO office. The pay range for this position will be commensurate with skills and experience.
In this role, you will develop, manage, strengthen and expand the Association’s business intelligence and data reporting capabilities. You will work closely with Association business leaders and IT to enhance the organization-wide business reporting efforts to include: support of the development and maintenance of the reporting framework, tools, metrics and dashboards ensuring fact-based decision-making, and improving data quality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Program Management
Lead and direct all data and information management activities including program management.
Act as the “point person,” to coordinate and influence all Association business data programs and initiatives related to reporting business data.
Coordinate the efforts of data stakeholders to develop a data infrastructure conducive to providing easily accessible, interactive, automated, and accurate data to business, program, and research units.
Establish relationships and alliances with CIO/IT department to ensure effective cross-functional business and IT partnerships, decision-making and data outcomes.
Lead data governance working group to develop data driven policies and procedures and ensure alignment.
Participate in IT Governance Committee (ITGC) to ensure organizational efficiency and effectiveness in Association data and IT management.
Lead technology, infrastructure and/or special projects as needed.
Data Process and Standards Development
Ensure clear accountability is in place for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets.
Guide practices for capturing, storing, and handling all organization-wide data: identify when and how data can be used to support decision-making within the organization and ensure processes are in place to enable data-based decision-making.
Design an overall quality control program for data management and quality assurance. Develop procedures and protocol for proper data integration and accuracy.
Establish operating-level agreements between IT and data stakeholders to ensure timely and predictable data access.
Reporting Infrastructure Development
Design and watch over the development of the Association’s business data reporting platform (Qlik) to enhance data-informed decisions.
Identify new sources of enriched data outside of the Association that would improve the overall strategy and business objectives, including demographic information to be used for customer segmentation and personalization.
Serve as steward for all EDUCAUSE data assets.
Improve interactive self-service reports and dashboards that give end-users business insights and enable users to analyze communicate, monitor, and plan for the future.
Work with external consultants and vendors as needed.
Facilitate staff training on reporting platform as needed.
Metrics and KPI Development and Analysis
Collaborate with Association leaders to identify key performance indicators as well as overall organization metrics.
Utilize data mining and synthesize findings into enhanced decision-support tools.
Proposed recommendations through analysis of behavior and data that affect the overall sustainability and effective operations of the organization.
Support other associated projects or initiatives.
Education and Experience
You will need a degree in data science, statistics, operations research or related field(s) of study. An advanced degree is desirable; a strong combination of education and practical experience will also be considered.
You should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in a data-oriented role and environment.
You have a history of successful program management.

A solid grasp of data management as well as a familiarity with business intelligence development.
Strong data infrastructure development experience, including data warehousing, standing up a data lake, and/or creating a virtual data warehouse.
Proficient in data management standard methodologies.
Ability to partner with DBA and Developers in IT dedicated to supporting data initiatives and programs within the scope of this role.
Experience developing reporting dashboard interfaces or documenting the functional specs for reporting dashboard interface development would be useful.
Experience conducting staff training with respect to data governance and practices also useful.

Limited travel required to support EDUCAUSE conferences/events, team operations, and external events meaningful to the position.
The position may be performed from a home office if technical connectivity requirements are met to ensure effective telework.
