EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Manager of IT Architecture and Infrastructure to support the Association. This is a full-time, exempt position located in the Louisville, CO office. Starting salary is commensurate with experience.
In this position, you will report directly to the CIO and are the chief architect and manager of the IT systems and network infrastructure for the association. Embracing a cloud-first strategy, you will endeavor to provide consistent, highly reliable, secure, and scalable services to the association and its members. This role requires planning, mentoring, and management skills in directing the activities of two professional employees and contractors in this work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Architecture and Infrastructure
Responsible for the overall operation of the IT infrastructure, including but not limited to: servers, hardware, core networking switches and routers, WLAN, firewalls/IPS, storage arrays, network printers/peripherals and Voice systems.
Collaborates with the Director of Information Security to ensure that the network and systems are secure, adhering to industry standards, and develops and maintains disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity for the association.
Manages enterprise telecommunications services for all EDUCAUSE employees and members to include VOIP, Internet bandwidth, VPN’s, and all vendor carrier services and provider provisioning.
Oversees development and maintenance of server, networking, and data wiring diagram documentation and standards, policies and procedures.
Researches, recommends, and implements system infrastructure changes, enhancements, and maintenance within budget constraints and planning for future requirements.
Provides expertise to the department’s efforts in IT operational and capital budget planning as it relates specifically to infrastructure.
Stays informed of current and developing trends in IT infrastructure to assure that the office is up-to-date by current professional standards.
Serves as Project Manager, as needed, for IT projects that require significant infrastructure investments.
Manages IT Infrastructure staff assigning projects, monitoring progress, resolving problems, conducting performance reviews, and setting goals.
Works collaboratively with IT vendors and/or contractors that EDUCAUSE conducts business with on projects.
As a member of the IT leadership team contributes to IT strategic, tactical, and operational planning efforts.
Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends; sometimes with little advanced notice.
Education and Experience
Bachelor (4-year) degree required, in a technical major, such as engineering or computer science OR equivalent experience
Five years’ experience in system/network administration
Two years’ experience in a management role
VMWare server virtualization experience
Professional certifications are a plus
Microsoft Azure and/or AWS IaaS experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, at all levels of management.
Possess a comprehensive understanding of complex organizational relationships and an ability to demonstrate influence within such an environment.
No regular travel required but must be flexible with respect to working hours to meet the needs of the association, including periodic on-call, with some evening/weekend time required.
