Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $69,000-$75,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Develops, implements and monitors system-wide sustainability efforts to include energy, food service, waste management, recycling, resource efficiency, greenhouse gases, transportation, supply chain, facilities, and design for environment. Establishes and maintains metrics for sustainability goals and evaluates cost-effectiveness of programs and progress towards goals. Coordinates sustainable practices and quantifies environmental impacts. Develops systems for managing energy consumption. Develops energy strategies to reduce consumption and costs. Evaluates renewable energy cost / benefits and develops projects to meet funding constraints.
Uses advanced skills to monitor and support the planning and coordination of the Policy on Sustainable Practices as well as new sustainability initiatives at UC and prepares an annual report to the Regents. Researches and monitors trends and innovations in energy and sustainability. Provides expertise on these topics to the University.
The Sustainability Office is responsible for advancing campus-wide environmental performance and successes. A team of 5 staff and over 30 students, the office oversees several programs focused on advancing an operational, social and educational culture of sustainability at UCSC and across the UC system. The office is directly responsible for reporting to the UC Office of the President, state and national rankings in several areas including but not limited to energy conservation and energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and educational initiatives.
Bachelor's degree and / or equivalent experience / training in environmental science, architecture, or engineering.
Advanced knowledge in the area of environmental sustainability and policy, specifically in the areas of climate action and building sustainability.
Proven ability to foster collaborations across diverse constituencies in a large organization.
In depth ability to inspire confidence and motivate groups to collectively meet common objectives.
Advanced experience in participatory leadership. Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
