General Administration Supervisor I/Coordinator I Position Summary: The Business Manager will oversee all fiscal and HR activities for the Offices of Undergraduate Studies, which includes Undergraduate Research, First Year Experiences and General Education. The Business Manager is responsible for business functions including bookkeeping, monthly financial reconciliations, fixed asset tracking, file maintenance, entering orders into HokieMart, monitoring budgets for university funds and sponsored projects to proactively identify and resolve problems, provide reports as needed, and advise on allowable use of funds. The business manager works with departments across campus to disperse internal grants funds. The business manager also oversees human resource activities including onboarding new employees, completing separation of employees, monitoring compliance for wage employees including emergency hires, and tracking training requirements such as COI and RCR.
-Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field or equivalent experience -Administrative support experience in academic or professional office environment -Ability to manage budgets and financial spreadsheets as well as personnel activities for sponsored projects and central operations -Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and interact professionally and diplomatically with diverse parties including university executives, faculty, students ,and external partners -Strong time management, organizational skills and work ethic
-Experience with Banner and HokieMart or similar systems -Familiarity with university and state policies such as those related to purchasing and travel -Experience with regulations and procedures associated with sponsored programs (federal and foundation)
