Brown Universityâ™s Web Services team welcomes applications for the role of lead/senior web developer. As part of the larger Computing and Information Services department, Web Services provides custom web application development and support to myriad offices across campus in support of faculty, students, and staff. The team operates with an innovative spirit, striving to deliver high-quality software that improves the overall operation of the university community.
The successful applicant will have a passion for software engineering (including test-driven development) and demonstrated experience contributing to all levels of the product stack. Exceptional communication skills with technical and non-technical users is a must to facilitate strong participation across product lifecycles. Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban) will enable immediate contribution to new and existing projects. Finally, the successful applicant must possess a strong sense of curiosity, demonstrated by a zeal for life-long learning and the appropriate adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
Participate in agile software development processes, including: story writing and estimation, sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
Implement new features and enhancements via solo and pair programming
Participate in code review via pull-requests and more formal team meetings
Experience with No-SQL technologies (MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet)
Experience with pair and/or mob programming
The hire level of the candidate (Senior or Lead) will be determined based on the qualifications of the candidate. There are two Web Developer opportunities available.
