Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a SR IT Security Analyst. This position will provide an opportunity to join the Security and Compliance team responsible for protecting employees, faculty, and students at Iowa State against threats and vulnerabilities. This role is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert in Next-Generation Firewall products (NGFW), Web Application Firewall (WAF) and malware sandboxing. The individual will work collaboratively with IT teams across campus and with vendors to deploy and operate threat management products at an enterprise level. An advanced knowledge of Firewall policy implementation is required.
Duties include; business process analysis and recommending security requirements for networks, endpoint protection, application development, Cloud services and vendor compliance. It will be critical to stay current with industry standards for information security technologies and controls.
This position may be hired at a Systems Analyst III or Senior Systems Analyst level. In addition to the responsibilities noted above, the Senior Systems Analyst position will lead project development and implementation and mentor/develop staff.
The successful candidate will be detail oriented, self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to troubleshoot, learning new skills, tools, and technologies. Applicants must also possess strong time management, organizational skills, and decision making skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience providing a Security Risk mitigation solution and use of GRC (Governanace, Risk and Compliance) tool.
Experience acting as a liasion between Management and technology group, leading security initiative and decisions.
Familiarity with configuration and change management requirements and processes in mission–critical environments.
Experience configuring policies on Firewalls and Web Application Firewalls.
Experience with PERL, Python, and Shell Scripting.
Experience with enterprise ready technologies like Cisco, Windows, iOS and Unix environments.
Experience with, and knowledge of, regulatory and industry frameworks and compliance (NIST,ISO,CIS, HIPAA, FERPA)
Experience with technology related to SaaS, PaaS and IaaS in context of cloud, wireless, mobile and IoT.
Experience with IT security devices such as Snort/Bro IDS/IPS, Nexpose, Cisco SSL-VPN, NAC products.
Experience with architecture specification and secure network protocols tied to encapsulation, tunneling and key management.
