The Director of Graduate Student Services focuses on maintaining a high level of graduate student satisfaction, anticipating and developing systems, and proposing solutions to respond to student needs. He/she directs academic advising, and supervises the Graduate Academic Advisor, ensuring sound advisement employing best practices and a holistic approach. The Director of Graduate Student Services fosters a collaborative relationship with faculty and staff from College Departments campus-wide, and develops policies and practices committed to providing a high-quality of service that optimizes the Lasell College graduate student experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements below are intended to describe the principal duties of the person or persons assigned to this job. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Be available on an ad hoc basis to assist graduate students with administrative or academic issues, referring students to the appropriate persons. • Oversee graduate student academic advising, employing best practices and a holistic approach. • Supervise the graduate student advisor(s). • Advise a minimum of 20 graduate students. • Develop, in collaboration with other administrative offices (e.g. bookstore, parking, student accounts), efficient and reliable processes for graduate students. • Keep current on trends in online academic supports and develop, where feasible, such supports for graduate students. • Oversee planning and execution of New Student Graduate Orientation, both face to face and online. • Work with Director of Graduate Student Enrollment to ensure seamless path from point of application through enrollment. • Serve as operations point person for new GPS initiatives (e.g. degrees, certificates, partnerships) • Work with faculty on classroom issues or last minute changes to schedule. • Oversee all activities related to Commencement for graduate students, including communication to graduate students regarding timelines, forms, schedules and logistics of the ceremony. • Oversee process for selection of graduate student commencement speaker. • Schedule workshops for graduate students (e.g. APA or library workshops) and special events with Graduate Student Union and/or Alumni Office; communicate events to graduate students. • Work with Associate Deans, Program Coordinators, and Director of Graduate Student Enrollment to anticipate and develop schedules and course offerings. • In collaboration with appropriate offices, develop and maintain data base to forecast course needs by program and by term • Collaborate with Institutional Research to update and distribute the annual Graduate Student Satisfaction Survey and collect data on graduate student needs (e.g. retention). • Use information gathered from the above survey (as well as other data) to improve graduate student satisfaction to make recommendations for improvement to the Vice President of Graduate and Professional Studies. • Track recommended improvements and work with other administrative offices on implementation and assessment. • Assist the Vice President for Graduate and Professional Studies as required. • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:
Required Qualifications Master's Degree; experience managing complex processes and working with diverse constituent groups; solid written and oral communication; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple projects; an understanding and/or experience with online course and program delivery; experience in teaching and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education administration and with graduate education; graduate and/or adult student services.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises work-study students as necessary.
Computer skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office products required; knowledge and experience with Salesforce, social network and database management skills highly desirable.
Prior Experience: Minimum of five (5) years' experience in higher education (or comparable experience) required.

Must have the ability to work well with both internal and external constituencies • Candidate must be energetic, highly motivated, flexible and team-oriented with an ability to identify, train, and manage volunteers from a variety of age groups. • Strong computer literacy required including familiarity and comfort with spreadsheets and databases. • Experience using social media and virtual conferencing tools to develop and sustain the graduate student community. • Requires some evening and weekend obligations; occasional travel. • Good judgment and a good sense of humor. • Strong communication skills • Compliance with relevant federal and state laws. • Compliance with college policies and procedures. • Good Attendance.
