Procurement at Bayer is responsible for all purchasing and sourcing globally, from raw materials for the products we make, to office supplies, packaging, real estate, capital equipment, contract manufacturing and more.
We are offering a unique internship experience that you won't find anywhere else. Through exploratory interviews, rotations within the function, primary project assignments, business trips, and employee resource group program management roles, we have designed our program to be best-in-class, and to develop our interns to be candidates for our International Procurement Management Trainee Program or for immediate direct hire positions within the function.
From Day 1, you will be challenged, and you will grow immensely as a professional over the 10-12 week period you're with us.
If you're selected to interview for this position, you'll be meeting with the Head of US Procurement People & Knowledge and the creator of the program. During the session you'll discuss your goals and objectives and draft out a customized internship experience in order to help maximize the value you get our of your time in the program.
Bayer Procurement experts contribute greatly as a driving force for innovative sourcing solutions and are indispensable for an efficient and intelligent supply. They work in trustful collaborations with diverse business partners across all divisions and areas of Bayer as well as with suppliers in an international and competitive environment. As part of the Bayer U.S. Procurement Team, you’ll work directly with the Head of People & Knowledge within Functional Leadership to help develop and implement programming that will support Bayer in becoming a world class procurement organization.
This position is expected to begin in May/June 2019 and end in August 2019. Work schedule may vary depending upon incumbent’s availability.
Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Bayer U.S. Procurement Intern Specialist, you’ll be supporting your U.S. Procurement Site Manager as well as the Head of People & Knowledge and will be interfacing with key internal stakeholders within Sourcing, Contract to Pay and Functional Leadership. You will be in a fast paced and challenging environment designed to help you learn, grow, and flourish. You will be matched with a Procurement Management Team Mentor to help guide you during the course of the program. Interns selected for this Program will be responsible for:
Learning the responsibilities and requirements of Sourcing, Purchasing and Strategy & Governance (Functional Leadership).
Acting as Customer Service support between Contract to Pay, Direct Sourcing, Indirect Sourcing and the People & Knowledge function within Functional Leadership
Working with the Head of People & Knowledge to identify a primary Procurement project to focus on during the course of their internship
Actively participating in weekly brainstorming sessions and Functional Leadership team meetings
Acting as a liason between Bayer U.S. Procurement and third party external organizations to identify new training programs that could be implemented.
Supporting the Global Sustainability and Supplier Diversity Initiatives
Supporting requests for Sharepoint enhancement or redesign
Contributing to the Procurement Communication Strategy and monthly Procurement News articles
Shadowing a Sourcing Manager on an on-going project in order to further learn sourcing methodologies commonly used within Bayer.
Conducting stakeholder interviews to identify improvement opportunities
Write weekly newsarticles on stakeholder interviews that focus on Procurement projects in order to increase awareness of the work being performed in the US PRO Organization across sites.
Document the internship experience through video blogs (optional)

More specifically related to this position, we are seeking an incumbent who possess the following:
Current first year Masters student with a focus in Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing or a Business related field of study
Knowledge of General Procurement Processes and Procedures;
Work experience in the form of prior internships or full time employment in Procurement.
Project Management and Change Management experience a plus;
GPA of 3.0 within the candidates major
