Under minimal supervision the Manager of Pharmacy Business Services is responsible for providing the overall operational and strategic direction for the Supply Chain, Finance, Revenue Cycle, Contract Management, Business Analytics and Informatics for the Department of Pharmacy. Serves as the key business services partner to the pharmacy leadership team and as the department partner and representative to the Supply Chain, Finance, Patient Services, Human Resources, Contracting, Business Development, Information Systems, Pharmacy Contractors and business partners, and Information Systems. The manager will work in conjunction with other managers and leaders to optimize supply chain management for pharmaceuticals. He/she will manage the revenue cycle process for the pharmacy and will align inventory practices, optimize contract compliance, maximize inventory controls, and oversee drug shortages. Provides oversight and direction for all pharmacy related finances including but not limited to operating budget, capital budget, business analytics, cost accounting, and revenue integrity and will oversee the pharmacy drug replacement and assistance programs across the organization. Oversees the development and implementation of pharmacy business information systems and related applications. Recruits, hires, supervises, evaluates, and ensures competency of pharmacy department staff. May have oversight and accountability for other pharmacy service areas.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD. Masters’ Business Administration preferred.
Experience: Typically five years of management experience with three years of experience in a business manager position or equivalent experience preferably in a complex healthcare organization. Five years experience in pharmacy with a record of progressive career advancement leading to additional responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong analytical background with attention to detail. Advanced knowledge of computer database systems including advanced level of proficiency with Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Solid knowledge of project management principles and practices. Thorough knowledge of the practice of pharmacy including clinical services and drug utilization. Ability to lead a team, manage and supervise staff and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
