The Office of Admissions at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for an Illinois Regional Recruiter. The Regional Recruiter position will recruit prospective freshman and transfer students to the university primarily from Illinois and the Chicagoland area using a variety of methods including visiting high schools and community colleges, attending college fairs, conducting enrollment presentations, managing e-recruitment correspondence, and coordinating and assisting with on- and off-campus recruitment programs.
The Regional Recruiter must possess independent judgment, initiative, and the ability to coordinate a variety of activities; the ability communicate daily with prospective students and families; the ability to manage events designed to develop relationships with high school and community college counselors; and the ability coordinate new student recruitment activities of the Illinois Alumni Admissions Councils. This position will serve students and families primarily from Illinois and the Chicagoland area. Incumbent must be willing to serve and travel within the region to visit local schools and colleges, and to be on the Iowa State campus for numerous training and recruitment events throughout the year, including assisting with on-campus New Student Programs, including Orientation programs and Destination Iowa State activities.
This position requires additional travel within the continental U.S. for recruiting and meetings; excellent verbal and written communication skills and microcomputer skills, especially in a PC environment with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; the ability to handle long periods of interpersonal communication (phone calling, face to face contact, etc.); the ability to lift moderately heavy boxes (up to 50 lbs.), set up displays; and focus on prospective students and families within a variety of conditions like noisy college fairs. The successful candidate will have the ability to review paper and electronic admissions application materials; operate a keyboard, cell phone, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) device; and to communicate effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including, but not limited to alumni, high school students, families, high school and community college faculty and staff, college students, and support and professional staff. The Incumbent will work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks at the same time, and be willing to work early mornings, late evenings & weekend hours and extended hours as necessary throughout the year.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Related experience in a higher education setting such as admissions, student financial aid, orientation, or student services.
Existing geographic and cultural familiarity with the targeted recruitment area.
Additional years of admissions or related experience.
Experience working with diverse student populations and learning environments.
Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM product.
Master’s degree in educational leadership, psychology, counseling, or related field.
Experience or education which demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
