ROLE of the POSITION
This is an accounting position within the Property Control office, under the direction of the Director of Delivery Services. The Property Control office is a centralized campus organization within the Administrative Services unit of the Division of Finance & Business.
This position supports daily operations and physical inventories for approximately 35,000 capital equipment assets with a total acquisition cost valued at approximately $134 million. This position will manage a team of two full time employees and student workers that are assigned to the Property Control Office.
This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, routine activities such as, recording capital equipment into the Asset Management system (Workday/Assetworks), analyzing and approving financial transactions related to capital equipment purchases; assisting with the campus-wide physical inventories; providing data for inclusion into the University System annual financial report; providing data to support charges for the Equipment Use Allowance claimed in the University's Federal Indirect Rate Cost proposal; preparing ad-hoc reports and supporting documentation requested by auditors and Federal agencies; recording and tracking capital equipment lease agreements, recording and tracking equipment loan agreements, and advising campus on policies and procedures related to capital equipment.
This positions will also be responsible for working in close collaboration with the University Financial Reporting department and be responsible for working closely with the plant fund accountant.
The position will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening internal controls, along with understanding and enforcing policies, which are governed by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Department of Administration (DOA), Federal OMB circulars and regulations, NSHE Board of Regents, and UNLV policies.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree preferably in Business Administration, Finance/Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline from a regionally accredited college or university and at least three years of experience in responsible supervisory positions in inventory management, property control, or a related area is required.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
