<p>The Developer 2 position provides a range of web development support and plays a key role in the GPS Alliance’s migration to Drupal as its primary content management system. This position reports to the IT Manager. This position is part of the GPS-IT Team that provides project support to the GPS Alliance units through web development, system administration, and systems analysis. The team has developed an effective tool chain for creating websites, but it is still developing its standard procedures and practices. This position has input and decision-making ability in standardizing the team’s tool set, project management, and web development guidelines.<br /><br />The Global Programs and Strategy Alliance (GPS Alliance) is the central international office for the University of Minnesota system. We support the University's mission by working closely with campuses, colleges, units, faculty and staff, students, and the community to comprehensively internationalize the University of Minnesota.<br /><br />70% - Web – interactive design and development<br />- Codes, develops, maintains, tests, and supports websites, web applications, and other electronic projects; performs usability evaluations; integrates various functionalities with front-end programming; creates, maintains, and continuously improves page templates, styles, and functionalities that meet the needs of GPS Alliance units<br />- Maintains and shares clear documentation<br />- Provides oversight for maintenance and management of GPS Alliance Drupal instance; partners with system administrator on implementation<br /><br />20% - Project planning and support<br />- Partners with stakeholders to clarify their business needs and requirements<br />- Meets and communicates with units and project teams to provide leadership in promoting appropriate web strategy and execution<br />- Provides consultation to unit contacts on web/interactive design and technical matters<br />- Resolve questions and problems reported by users<br /><br />10% - Professional development<br />- Represents the GPS Alliance in interactions with peers throughout the University<br />- Participates in UMN Communities of Practice, as appropriate<br />- Stays current with trends in web design and development, including University standards; regularly assesses processes and makes recommendations for improvement</p>
