The Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering of Fairleigh Dickinson University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance at the rank of Assistant Professor for fall 2019. The School has recently offered an MS in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (MSCSIA) program to complement its BS/MS Computer Science, BS/MS Electrical Engineering, MS Computer Engineering, MS Management Information Systems, and MS Electronic Commerce programs. Core courses in the MSCSIA program are Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Cybersecurity, Cryptography, and Penetration Testing & Vulnerability Analysis. Electives include Supply Chain Security & Systems Certification, Network Security, Firewalls & Intrusion Detection Systems, Secure Software Development & Analysis, Information Security, and Linux System Administration. Fairleigh Dickinson University has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. The new program supports the mission of the Center.
The successful candidate is expected to teach Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, and Computer Science courses at all levels; have an active research program resulting in peer-reviewed publications; provide academic advising; participate actively in student recruitment and retention efforts, learning outcomes assessment, and curriculum and laboratory development; supervise student organizations and accompany students on field trips and to conferences; help maintain ABET accreditation for other programs in the School; and seek outside funding. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising the adjunct faculty; coordinating the MSCSIA program; assisting and promoting other programs, including Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering; and implementing the School’s initiatives. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to be present on campus at least four of the five working days and to attend open houses and outreach programs, which are conducted on a few weekends.
1.PhD in Cybersecurity or Computer Science or closely related field.
2.Industrial or research experience in cybersecurity and information assurance.
3.Strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, service, and contributions to student welfare.
4.Demonstrated ability to foster student learning in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, and Computer Science, regardless of level.
5.Superior oral and written communications skills and ability to work collaboratively.
6.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
