Position Summary and Responsibilities Vassar Computing and Information Services (CIS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Business Manager. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer, the Business Manager will administer and manage the business affairs of the multiple units that comprise CIS - four major operational units, in addition to the Office of the VP & CIO. Funding sources under the department's management include multiple grants and revenue sources.
CIS is the central information technology operations and strategy division of Vassar, providing the college with infrastructure services, academic technology, enterprise applications, research computing, IT policy and governance, information security, and general technology support. CIS is made up of four major operational units in addition to the Office of the VP & CIO, which includes Information Security and Project/Program Management.
Create and manage complex financial tracking documents and budgetary spreadsheets, ensuring that they are maintained and updated on an ongoing basis.
Coordinate with the college's central finance teams regarding financial policies, procedures, deadlines, etc.
Support and oversee the annual budget planning process.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and other agreements pertaining to software, hardware, and services.
Track expenditures and/or payments, ensuring they are posted to proper accounts; accounts reconciliation; and financial reporting.
Supervise the department's administrative staff in initiating procurement transactions and other office duties.
Manage issues associated with the department's facilities, ensuring that space is maintained and configured so as to support efficient and continuous operation of the department's staff and the services they provide.
As assigned, assess and improve the business processes associated with management of the department's own inventory and human resources, liaising as necessary with the college's central offices primarily responsible for these functions.

Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience working within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Preferred: Google apps for Education; master's degree in business, information systems, or other related field; personnel management experience; higher education and/or non-profit experience.
