Provides management and oversight of a centralized transportation department that supports all BSWH facilities. Manages a centralized BSWH courier network for scheduled and STAT transport of laboratory products, medical supplies, and interoffice mail. Manages the vehicle maintenance, registration, and license and fuel programs for approximately 500 BSWH owned vehicles. Provides strategic and operational management of a fleet of trucks and drivers to transport critically needed medical supplies and equipment to all BSWH facilities. Leads a team of over 70 personnel.
WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Develops and implements major transportation initiatives to streamline distribution operations and ensure critical medical supplies are more efficiently and effectively delivered to all BSWH facilities.
Coordinates and expands all transportation activities, utilizing a system-wide and corporate approach. Expand the transportation scope to include support to remote facilities not currently receiving support.
Develops programs to identify, monitor, and influence transportation requirements, maximizing resources, identifying trends, and targeting areas requiring in-depth focus for improvements and efficiencies. Monitors OSHA and DOT compliance.
Manages and leads the LDC's critical fleet transportation program, delivering critical medical supplies to all BSWH hospitals and clinics on schedule and on time.
Maintains responsibility for the oversight of a centralized courier network of services that transports lab products, interoffice mail, pharmaceuticals, and urgent medical supplies to all BSWH clinics and hospitals.
Oversees a centralized fleet management program for the maintenance, registration, vehicle title transactions, state inspections, warranty/recall, roadside assistance, fuel program, vehicle donations and sales, and asset management of approximately 500 BSWH vehicles.
Establishes visibility, reporting and key performance metrics for all aspects of transportation and distribution to increase efficiencies and cost savings, and improve service standards.
Provides maintenance analysis for repair and replacement of transportation assets.
Develops distribution financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
Oversees the control and effective utilization of physical and financial resources of BSWH. Directs and prepares the transportation annual capital and operating budgets.
Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.

This position requires a Masters Degree, and at least 10 years experience.
