General Purpose of Job: The Value Analysis Specialist position coordinates the value analysis process, driving the evaluation and implementation of product and related equipment conversions, as well as, product utilization and standardization initiatives. Position acts as a key liaison across multiple stakeholders in the value analysis process by promoting total cost of ownership decisions related to cost, quality, and outcomes. Facilitates committee meetings and establishes project communication and tracking systems.
Coordinates product trials, ensuring the appropriate supply availability, timely evaluations, and results tracking based on quantitative and qualitative factors.
Facilitates efficient and effective product conversions by coordinating with multiple stakeholders including Vendors, Contracts, Procurement & Systems, Distribution Operations, Clinical Education and end user departments.
Acts as a liaison for educational requirements related to clinical products, services, and key processes with vendors, clinical staff and clinical education.
Collaborates with Supply Chain and Clinical teams to identify and operationalize products, services, and related processes that can be standardized and/or eliminated while ensuring optimal clinical outcomes and cost management.
Performs comparative effectiveness research related to medical/surgical products.
Monitors supply utilization trends and leads initiatives to reduce costs through the appropriate use or application of medical/surgical supplies.
Lead the development and documentation of workflows, policies, and procedures relating to value analysis.
Coordinates alignment of value analysis projects with capital equipment evaluation and deployment.
Coordinates supply chain assigned product recalls and product quality issues by facilitating the communication of required steps to both internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to Vendor business reviews relating to product quality, vendor effectiveness, and service.
Participates on applicable Health System committees as required.
Assists with special projects related to new product introductions including new programs or practices.
General Requirements PREFERRED - Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professional (CVAHP) OR Certified Materials Resource Planner (CMRP)
Work Experience Direct experience in acute care hospital operations related to medical-surgical, clinical education, ancillary, or Supply Chain Management. Education High school diploma or equivalent GED and minimum 6 years of relevant experience, Or, Associates degree in a business or clinical discipline and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, Or, Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, supply chain, or clinical discipline and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills Ability to facilitate multidisciplinary committee meetings and project tracking skills. Ability to communicate medical-surgical supply features and applications with clinical stakeholders. General working knowledge of ERP systems and reporting software. General working knowledge of healthcare supply chain; supply distribution, procurement, inventory management, vendor management or Group Purchasing contracting. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities. General working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Negotiation skills preferred. Proficiency with Lawson ERP preferred In-depth knowledge of healthcare supply chain; vendors in market, product applications and utilization preferred. Value Analysis Committee facilitation preferred. Intermediate Microsoft Excel used to analyze product attributes and usage statistics preferred. Lead coordinator role for multiple product conversions preferred. Direct experience in healthcare supply chain; procurement, supply distribution or contracting preferred.
