LSA Undergraduate Education, in support of the Opportunity Hub, is seeking to hire one (1) part-time LEO Lecturer I to teach two half-term, one-credit courses, for a total per term effort of 22.22%, during the fall and winter terms, beginning with winter 2019 - ALA 125: Positioning Yourself for a Successful Internship.
The LSA Opportunity Hub is a transformational initiative to encourage all students to connect their liberal arts education with their goals and aspirations. Hub staff collaborate with campus partners to facilitate access to internships, funding, employer partnerships, and alumni mentors so students can explore challenging, diverse opportunities, discover what matters most to them in their education and beyond, and put their liberal arts education to work.
We are seeking candidates who are interested in facilitating a structured learning opportunity/course that facilitates the connections between students’ liberal arts education and experiential, internship opportunities.
Lecturers are expected to attend all class sessions, deliver course lectures, host guest speakers, hold office hours with students, handle routine matters related to instruction, and maintain contact with the Learning Director of the LSA Opportunity Hub.
The candidate must hold a master’s degree in higher education or the liberal arts. Evidence of successfully teaching in a liberal arts classroom with demonstrated experience working with students in a liberal arts context. Familiarity with technology resources and their application to teaching and learning.
Experience in working with students on career exploration and internships.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
